The theory behind systemising your business is that it has the appropriate systems in place to generate the income you need and with a higher value, without you working all the hours within it. Without you having to make all the decisions. Without you being the bottleneck.

Some tasks might seem easier to just do rather than learning how they could be automated but consider the short-term pain for the long-term gain.

No one could expect you to jump in the driver’s seat and take a leisurely drive into the countryside, and you can’t expect someone to jump into a workplace role without guidance, and making the odd mistake, either.

One big reason I see small businesses stagnating or even failing is because the owner – you – are laser focused on the end goal, which is way off in the distant future. This creates long-sightedness and takes your attention away from the now, preventing you being able to connect what you’re doing right now, to where you want to be at the end.

Bring in other members of your team; sales, marketing, finance and customer relations for example. Everyone will have an ideas.
