So, can you break down the change you want into smaller steps and gradually stretch your comfort zone, rather than burst out of it? If you can it will help you see that each small step is achievable and before you know it, the desired change is comfortable as a whole, and a new habit is often then formed.

The theory behind systemising your business is that it has the appropriate systems in place to generate the income you need and with a higher value, without you working all the hours within it. Without you having to make all the decisions. Without you being the bottleneck.

Ahead of the announcement of the Booker Prize winners in a couple of weeks, I thought I’d talk about the business books that have made the biggest difference to my entrepreneurial life, and the ones I would recommend to others for support, ideas and inspiration.

I define the role of non-exec team member as, “to provide a creative contribution to the business by providing independent oversight and constructive challenge to business leaders and senior management teams.”

Having said all that, my favourite bite-sized definition for either role is ‘critical friend’.
